THE BIOSPHERE RESERVE OF DOI LUANG CHIANG DAO
Doi Luang Chiang Dao in Chiang Mai Province is a biosphere reserve declared by UNESCO as a model of the balanced and sustainable coexistence between humans and forests. It qualifies as Thailand’s fifth biosphere reserve. Pine trees, dry evergreen forests, mixed deciduous forests, and rainforests form a part of this unique ecosystem. The precious forests protect Thailand’s rare wildlife species such as the goral and the serow. Climbing up Doi Luang Chiang Dao can be compared to entering a hidden world disconnected from all forms of electronic communication left behind in the outside world. As we expand the capacity of our senses, we listen to the sounds of nature with distinct clarity.
